Gardening to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Health and Nutrition

Is basil good for you?

Basil is herd and a must have in my home garden, my wife uses basil leaf on a daily basis to season her meat and she also use the herb as a flavoring agent when making pizza. I love the smell of basil, in addition to its fragrance there are many nutritional benefits. Basil (Ocimum basilicum) also known as St Joseph's wort is native to the tropical  regions from Central Africa to Southeast Asia. It is an excellent source of vitamin K, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acid. When used as a tea it help stop vomiting and ease stomach cramps. Also it is effective when applied to snake bites and insect stings.

From my garden, Basil (Ocimum Basilicim)
