Tools- What you may need
There are numerous
garden tools ranging from hand to power operated tools available on the market.
However, you don’t need to purchase fancy or expensive tools. The tool size and
requirement entirely depend on the size of the garden and its physical conditions.
The basic digging spade, digging knife or trowel, wheelbarrow, hoe, rake and
pruner are the tools mostly used.
Spades are used for digging and scooping which makes it
one of the more commonly used tools for gardening purposes.
Trowels are a smaller version of a spade which is
used for tossing the soil around the planting bed and digging. A lot of people
use trowels, but a digging knife will outlast any trowel that you can buy, it
may cost a little more but will never break or bend like a trowel.
Wheelbarrows are
efficient tools that can be used for a variety of gardening projects from
hauling plants, mulch and soil around the garden to mixing fertilizer for the
plants and disposing of garden debris. They are made in steel and plastic.
A Hoe is used for loosening the soil. It helps
you plant, seed and other related chores of gardening more easily. Select a hoe
depending on the size and area of your garden. Standard hoe is sufficient for
small gardens.
Rakes are created in two basic designs, they are
hand rakes and lawn hand rakes. Hand rakes are small, they are specifically
designed to work in tight spaces and close to the surface and are ideal for
smaller areas. Lawn hand rakes are smaller versions of a typical lawn or leaf
rake and are ideal for cleaning up dead leaves and plant materials in garden
beds.
Pruner is a cutting tool or scissors used in the
garden on several types of plants. They are also strong enough to prune hard
branches of trees and shrubs. It is always advisable to go through all the
safety instructions properly before using them.
Take diligent care of
your gardening tools to ensure longevity, clean and oil them so that they don’t
rust while not in use. Always choose tools that are easy to use and would make
gardening experience more fun.
